Uluwatu temple

The Uluwatu temple is probably one of the most visit temples on Bali.

Pura (Luhur) Uluwatu) is a Balinese Hindu sea temple (Pura Segara) located in Uluwatu. The temple is built at the edge (ulu) of a 70-meter-high (230 ft) cliff (watu) projecting into the sea. In folklore, this rock is said to be part of Dewi Danu’s petrified barque.

Nowadays it is a popular tourist destination, it is a big park where the daily Kecak dance is performed. As with every temple here too are many stairs, a beautiful temple and where all temples in Bali are often black in colour, this one is made of a yellow coloured stone, and when you get to the top you have a beautiful view over the sea and the rough coast. You are not allowed in the inner part of the temple, so taking pictures of the temple itself is not easy. But the horizon turned dark yellow and red with the sunset and the spectacular view made up for that.

Like with many temples also here there are monkeys so be careful with your belongings when you enjoy the spectacular view on the coast line.

The temple entrance is IDR 30.000 for foreign adults and IDR 20.000 for children. The entrance fee for the Kecak dance performance is about IDR 150.000 for an adult and IDR 100.000 for a child in the age of 2-9 years.
