After years at the same spot, Mentari has now moved to a new location, though you don’t have to walk far, as the new site is right next door and it is still a beach front restaurant.
Located on Kalibukbuk Beach, accessible from the main road via Jalan Pura Subak, which leads to the shore (the Puri Bagus Hotel is on the same street), the restaurant is neighbors with the Aneka Hotel and Lovina Resort, while the Starlight Hotel is nearby. The new location was built a year ago and recently opened, there is now greater capacity, and the interior is beautifully designed with an eye for detail. The prices are slightly above average, but the quality is good, and they strive to maintain high standards.
The open kitchen is located at the back of the restaurant; the venue is also easily accessible, as there is a special entrance for people with reduced mobility, such as those using a walker or wheelchair or for anyone who might struggle with the somewhat awkward steps.
As mentioned, there is now much more capacity, making it highly suitable for groups as well.
On the beach side, there is a bar where you can order tasty drinks, but there are also a few tables that offer a great view of the beach and the sea.
It is a nice spot on the beach where you can sit back and relax with a drink. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Beanbags are also available on the beach; if you don’t see them out, you can ask the staff, though they are usually set up by the afternoon, it’s a great place to enjoy the sunset.
They also offer kayaks for rent if you want to head out onto the water. You can book a breakfast package that includes dolphin watching, and, when the season is right, they release baby turtles onto the beach free of charge, so there’s no hassle involved with adopting a baby turtle.
