From Amed, it should be a 36-minute drive, but if you encounter traffic, as is so often the case, it takes a bit longer. All in all, it was an hour’s drive to the nice scenery around the Agung, and around 10 a.m. we arrived at Lahangan Sweet, which is part of the village of Bunutan.
We have been here before but the weather was not good on that day so we didn’t go up, but now it is very different than before. The roads are much better now and you can drive up by car. The beginning of the road is kind of bad with a lot of putholes but it quickly improves, then you arrive at a parking lot where you also have to buy an entrance ticket.
The entrance fee is IDR 100,000 for international tourists and IDR 35,000 for Indonesians (like for your driver or guide). Before, a 4×4 Jeep would take you up, but now you take a shuttle bus which are driving up and down.

Here, at Lahangan Sweet, you can enjoy a stunning view from this beautiful spot high up on the mountain. For an additional IDR 100,000, you can use the swing. The location is well-maintained and clean and the shuttle bus ride up is quick.
You can easily reach the spot by taking the shuttle bus where it will stop on a parking, from there you need to walk the rest. The area is good accesible and with a few exceptions it is mostly flat. Best of all, it’s not overcrowded, which means you can get your picture without the long wait.

It is a beautiful place and the view over the valley and the mountains is gorgeous, a lovely breeze and a bit cooler because you are at high altitude. You can walk around, it is like a park on “top of the world”, there is a gate of heaven and also here you don’t have to wait for hours in line to take the perfect picture.

You can also climb a tree (via a staircase), this is actually the famous part of Lahangan Sweet and take the ideal picture on a plateau with the Agung in the background (if the Agung is visible), also here you don’t have to wait in line for hours for this.

And you can also take beautiful pictures with a drone, for flying with the drone there is no extra charge.

You can walk all the way to the end, the path is good to walk and the view over the valley is beautiful.

This beautiful area is well worth the visit, but only on a clear day. When it is clouded there is nothing to see.
