Whenever you are in the area of Jimbaran and you like fish a visit to the local fish market is recommended. Although Jimbaran is close by the fish market is not in Jimbaran itself, click here for the exact location. When you would come there early in the morning you can see the fisherman unloading the fish and getting it ready for the auction.
The fish market is located on the beach, in the direct vicinity there are a lot of warungs, so the idea is that you buy the fish at the market and go to one of the warungs to get your fish prepared, you order something to drink, nasi putih and vegetables to go with it and the people from the warung will prepare the fish any way you want.
You can buy all kind of fish on the market, best is to bring your driver with you so he can do the negotiating.
Fish restaurants
Another option other than have the warung prepare your fish are the restaurants just 100 meter away from the market, walk over the beach and you can reach them easily. Here it basically works the same, you buy the fish and ask the staff from the restaurant to prepare the fish anyway you want. What is really recommended, if you like them that is, are the King Prawn, they are delicious. We had our meal with Legong, one of the restaurants and it was absolutely great. They charge about IDR 15.000 to prepare the fish for you.
Late in the afternoon around 4 pm they start to get ready for the busiest time of the day, the sunset, during the sunset you can have dinner here, it is very popular because a lot of tables get reserved during the day, and yes the sunset most be fabulous here, unless dark clouds get in the way but even then it is nice place to have dinner and having delicious meal.
