Goa Gajah

This temple is located in the village of Bedulu.
Goa Gajah literally meaning “The Elephant Cave” and was built in the 9th century, it served as a sanctuary.

This is one of the places which looks promising but is a bit disappointing however it is still a nice place to visit, the entrance fee is IDR 50.000 for adults and IDR 25.000 for children and when you walk to the entrance of the complex you will find some shops selling their souvenirs at the end of that area is a checkpoint where you can get a sarong if you don’t have one, and go down the stairs, it is not a big complex, some ponds and the cave with the impressive carvings on the wall.

Inside the cave there are three places with offers and some sort of altar. It is a small cave and the smoke of the incense makes it hard to breath so you want to leave as soon as possible.

The complex has more temples and it all looks nice and well taken care off.

You can also go down the stairs where you will find some ponds and more temples.
