Global Village Foundation

Global Village Foundation is one of Indonesia’s leading disability charities. It was established in 2013 and is based in North Bali.
Global Village Foundation supports those living with severe disabilities & the disadvantaged, those who don’t have access to the basic necessities of life, such as healthcare, liveable housing, clean drinking water or education.
The Global Village Foundation provides:

  • Free wheelchairs and mobility aids for disadvantaged disabled persons throughout Indonesia.
  • Assistance for the sick & disabled with medication costs and transportation to medical facilities when possible.
  • Food support is given to the malnourished and hungry.
  • School sponsorship programs for disadvantaged and disabled children.
  • Water filters for impoverished families to access clean, safe drinking water.
  • Essential home improvements for low-income families include toilets, electricity, and disabled access facilities.

GVF is currently the leading distributor of free wheelchairs for poor, disabled people in Bali and throughout Indonesia, distributing over 1000 free wheelchairs annually.

Global Foundation Kafé
In June 2013, the Global Village Foundation Kafé opened in Lovina, North Bali.
It is a ‘not-for-profit social project.
It is located on the main road in Kalibukbuk (next door to the Government run Tourist Information Center), click here for the exact location.
The Global village Foundation Kafé leads the way in North Bali promoting the training and employment of persons with disabilities. All of the staff employed at the GVF Kafé have the disability of deafness, and cannot speak as a result.
A specially designed menu has been developed where the customer just points at the items on the menu for what they want to eat and drink. All profits from the kafé help fund the foundation’s activities and operation costs. They serve good food and great coffee. For reviews simply google ‘Global Village Foundation Kafé.

Turtle conservation project and Coral Reef Restoration

The Turtle conservation project, read all about this on the website. You can visit this turtle hatchery and learn about the background & why this was started. In the same location as the Turtle hatchery is Global Village Foundation Coral Reef Restoration project. See a great video about what they do here.

It is also possible to do some snorkelling over the Reef project, but please bring your own mask, snorkel and fins. Best time to snorkel is usually early morning between 7.30 am & 10.30 am.
