Eco Café is more than just a café; it’s an integral part of the Bali Mountain Women’s Coffee Cooperative, an organization (cooperative) which is run by and is for the local community, giving women farmers the chance to work together and find empowerment. We are committed to the future, offering free training to local youth in organic farming and trekking guide skills, as they are the stewards of the area’s eco-friendly way of life.
Our mission extends to our various locations:
- Authentic Eco Café 2: Here, we’ve designed our own parking lot to keep vehicles off the main road, reflecting our commitment to a peaceful, eco-conscious environment.
- Rustique Eco Café 3: Reopened in May 2025 after a complete renovation, offering a fresh space for you to enjoy the view, the coffee and the food.
- Eco Café 4, Integrated Coffee Plantation (Coffee-ology): This location is a reservation-based tour where you can experience our coffee plantation first hand. It’s also a sanctuary where animals, including our “luwak,” are cared for and released back into their natural habitat.
Please note that there used to be a Eco Café 1, but unfortunately this café is closed permanently.
We believe in farming with respect for nature. Our farmers use their land without any chemicals, creating a safe home for bees and all living creatures.
Authentic Eco Café 2 – Munduk
If you’re exploring the waterfalls in Munduk, like the Munduk Waterfall, you’re in the right area for Eco Café 2 Munduk. It is close to the waterfall making it a great place to stop.
You’ll find the cafe on the side of the road at Jalan Raya Desa Munduk Dusun Beji, Munduk. Don’t worry about parking as there is a small parking lot available. On the ground floor, you can find the friendly owner roasting the coffee beans. Just go upstairs to the restaurant and enjoy the coffee, the local delicacies and the view!

The café features a great menu of local dishes and excellent coffee. The owner roasts his own beans which are grown locally in the Munduk area. They serve a variety of coffee types, including espresso-based drinks and manual preparations like filter and drip coffee. The local food, such as Lak Lak1, is also highly recommended.

- Laklak (on the right picture above) is a Balinese traditional little pancake with grated coconut and melted palm sugar. This food is made of rice flour, water, coconut milk, suji leaf extract, baking powder, salt, grated coconut, and brown sugar. ↩︎
The cafe boasts a gorgeous view over the valley, and on a clear day, the surrounding mountains are a beautiful sight. However, since Munduk is known for its cloudy weather, the best time to visit and enjoy the full panorama is in the morning.

They also sell the spices which grow in the area, spices like vanilla and nutmeg but also the local coffee beans.
From where you sit, you can see the clove trees. In August it is harvest season, but picking the cloves is difficult because they grow so high. Harvesters must climb ladders to get them, and you’ll see the cloves laid out to dry on the side of the road all over the area.

This place is highly recommended for food and coffee, check for reviews on Tripadvisor.
Rustique Eco Café 3 at Tamblingan
Eco Café 3 (also known as Cloud & Dew) reopened in May 2025 after a major renovation and is a two-story café right on the side of the road, they have a small parking place in front of the building.
Here, you can enjoy a lovely view of the southern side of Tamblingan Lake, maybe the map explains the exact location better.

This café has two stories, and you’ll need to use the stairs to reach the main area, so it’s not wheelchair accessible. From the first floor, you get a nice view of Tamblingan Lake.

After taking another flight of stairs, you’ll reach the second floor. While the view is somewhat obstructed by power cables, you can still enjoy a very nice panorama from different sides of the building.

This cafe focusses on coffee, using the beans from the Bali Mountain Women’s Coffee Cooperative and the coffee is outstanding. A good menu of fair priced Balinese food is also available (you can find it on Google). The cafe has a simple but nice atmosphere and the food and coffee are top-notch.

To get an idea what coffee is about here, check this video on Youtube where Budi tells about the plantation and the coffee process.
A tour to the plantation, located close to Eco Café 3, and referred to as Eco Café 4, is available. This location is higher in the mountains, and the road leading to it can be challenging as it is a local road in poor condition. Your guide, Budi, can take you there to explain more about the plantation, the Civet cat, Luwak coffee, and the honey from the bees. A key feature of this location is that Civet cats are not kept in cages, reflecting the eco-friendly principles of the tour.
To experience the plantation tour, a reservation is required and you can contact Budi via WhatsApp for more information and booking at +62 813-3873-8007.
Eco Café 4
This is a guided tour that explores hectares of coffee plantation and a sanctuary located just after the tropical rainforest. It is a civet and bee-friendly environment where women farmers grow, harvest, and collect the civet droppings for the famous “Kopi Luwak Munduk.”
The tour concludes with a traditional coffee processing demonstration and tasting inside a two-story bamboo hut on the edge of the coffee valley. This pioneering “eco-friendly action,” which collaborates with local beekeepers for raw honey.
